• The loss dropped the Dynamo record on the season to 7-12-11 and the team’s record at home to 5-3-7.
• The defeat snapped Houston’s unbeaten streak at three games.
• It was the Dynamo’s first loss against New York City FC and moved the club’s record against NYCFC to 0-1-1.
• It dropped interim head coach Wade Barrett’s record on the Dynamo sideline to 4-5-9 overall and 2-2-5 at BBVA Compass Stadium. · Houston’s record in September ends at 2-1-1 following a 1-2-2 record in August.
• The Dynamo used the same starting lineup for the second consecutive match. It marked the sixth time this season that Houston has used the same starting XI in back-to-back matches.

Player Notes

• F Will Bruin came on as a second-half substitute for MF Andrew Wenger in the 74th minute. It was the fourth consecutive game in which Bruin has come on as a second-half sub.
• MF Ricardo Clark passed Jesse Marsch for 20th on Major League Soccer’s all-time minutes played list in the 10th minute. Clark entered tonight’s match with 25,633 career minutes under his belt and played 63 in the game, giving him 25,696 career minutes.
• MF José Escalante made his Major League Soccer debut in the 81st minute when he subbed on for F Mauro Manotas.
• MF Boniek García made his 116th career appearance in MLS regular-season competition, tying him with Geoff Cameron for 10th on the club’s all-time appearances list. García also made his 101st career MLS regular-season start, moving him past Cameron and Andre Hainault and into a tie with Jermaine Taylor for 11th on the club’s all-time games started list. Across all competitions, it was the Honduran’s 135th career appearance, passing Eddie Robinson for 12th on the club’s all-time list.
• García equaled an MLS career-high with his 27th appearance of the season.
• MF Cristián Maidana came on as a substitute, entering the match in the 63rd minute. It was Maidana’s 20th appearance on the season, giving him at least 20 appearances in all three of his Major League Soccer campaigns.
• D Raúl Rodríguez received a caution in the 57th minute for a late tackle on NYCFC F Jack Harrison. It was Rodríguez’ first caution of the season and only his second in MLS.
• MF Collen Warner made his 20th start of the season. It marked the fourth time in his seven-year MLS career and third consecutive season in which the Colorado native started 20 or more games.
• MF Andrew Wenger equaled a career high with his 22nd start of the season. Wenger started 22 games in 2015 for Philadelphia and in 2014 for Montreal (three starts) and Philadelphia (19).
