Power Rankings

Houston Dynamo continue to climb the MLSsoccer.com Power Rankings

Let's get this out of the way real quick: power rankings do not matter. Very simply, they are just one person's—or group of peoples'—thoughts on what teams are better than others in a very general sense, allowing them to even ignore results on the field or position in the standings. It's like college football rankings.

That said, the people who do the MLSsoccer.com power rankings right now think that the Houston Dynamo are much better than they did two weeks ago, and that's nice of them. The Dynamo entered the year ranked at No. 19, despite winning the prestigious Desert Diamond Cup in preseason.

After an Opening Day win over defending MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC, we got a bump up to No. 12. Now, after another convincing victory, the Houston Dynamo are The Seventh Best Team In Major League Soccer (According To The MLSsoccer.com Editorial Staff), only behind powerhouses such as Sounders FC (0-1-1) and Toronto FC (0-0-2).

Here's what they had to say about the Dynamo:

"Is Week 2 too early for a bandwagon? Maybe – OK, probably – but back-to-back home wins against the Sounders and Crew SC fueled by an attacking trio just begging for a nickname have raised more than a few eyebrows. Cubo + Wilmer Cabrera = goals, while the form of Romell Quioto and #lapantera Alberth Elis (3 goals combined) ought to have US national team fans a little worried."

Thank you for the kind words, and we can only hope to climb higher and higher until we acquire all of the power in the rankings and transcend numerical values.
