The school year started up Monday afternoon for a few Houston Dynamo players at Houston Sports Park, as they started English classes taught by Houston Community College.

English is the second language for 12 of the 28 players on the Dynamo roster, and these classes provide those players with the skills to grow more comfortable in the community and the locker room by breaking down language barriers.

Leonardo, Alberth Elis, Boniek García, Romell Quioto, José Escalante, Juan David Cabezas, Mauro Manotas, Vicente Sánchez, Erick Torres, Agus, Alex, and Adolfo Machado are all taking part in the season-long classroom sessions to improve their English skills. The first session consisted of a placement test; some players, such as Agus and Manotas, have already been through classes and are looking to build on their foundation.

Others, such as Romell Quioto and Alberth Elis, are living in the U.S. for the first time but are eager to get lessons started.
