The National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the Houston Dynamo have announced an educational partnership between the two organizations.
As an Official Educational Partner of the NSCAA, the Houston Dynamo will operate NSCAA coaching courses such as Level 1-6, Goalkeeping 1-3 and Special Topics courses throughout the Houston-metro soccer communities. The Dynamo have two educational opportunities scheduled, including:
- A "Reading the Game" Special Topics course scheduled for July 26, in conjunction with the Dynamo-Aston Villa game
- A Level 6 course scheduled for September 5-7 (Register Online | Details)
The NSCAA will be identified as the official coaching education resource of the Houston Dynamo and will provide Dynamo Academy coaches access to opportunities such as the Online Resource Library, the Convention and Summer Symposium. The Academy will also share its coaching resources with the NSCAA membership, as demonstrated by this "How to be a Creative Dribbler" session, which can be downloaded here.
NSCAA CEO Joe Cummings said of the partnership: “The NSCAA’s continued goal is to serve the soccer community by equipping coaches with the tools and information they need. With this partnership, we look forward to impacting the game in the Houston area and beyond.”
James Clarkson, Director of Youth Development noted: “I am huge believer in coach education and think that this relationship will help the development of more coaches in the Houston area.”
Adrian Moses, Director of Youth Programs said of the agreement: “The Houston Dynamo plays an important role in the soccer community as a resource for local coaches and being the official provider of NSCAA diploma courses will help us continue to connect with, develop and grow soccer in south Texas.”
The Houston Dynamo Academy has been one of the most successful developmental soccer programs since it began play in 2007. In the past five years, the squad has traveled the globe and competed in tournament against the world's best.
Additionally, the Houston Dynamo Youth Programs provide support and tuition to local soccer players through a variety of year-round training options. The progressive system of development provides a challenging curriculum that allows players of all ages and abilities to discover the game under close supervision of experienced staff. Players are encouraged to aspire toward success and for outstanding individuals, clear routes exist to advance to their renowned Academy and, ultimately, to the first team.
