David Tagliarino brings over 24 years of experience in sports marketing, event management, community relations, corporate sales, event negotiation, facility management, operations, financial management and new business development. David began his career in 1992 working for National Basketball Association (NBA) Houston Rockets as the Marketing, Promotions and Special Events Manager. While working in this capacity, he assisted and managed various areas from game operations and special events to marketing and promotions initiatives for the organization.
After winning their first NBA Championship in 1993-94, David joined the new expansion hockey franchise Houston Aeros Hockey Club in the International Hockey League (IHL). During his five year tenure, David served as Director of Community Relations for the Houston Aeros and Executive Director for the Houston Aeros Charities, their non-profit Foundation.
After receiving many accolades and awards for his outstanding work in the Houston community and for the International Hockey League, Tagliarino joined the National Hockey Leagues (NHL), Tampa Bay Lightning franchise to serve in similar roles and responsibilities. David commitment and passion were quickly recognized as the Tampa Bay Lightning organization received national acclaim while finishing runner-up for the "1999 Pro Team" Award, which recognizes sports franchises for their outstanding work within their communities.
In 1999, Tagliarino left the Lightning as the team's Vice President of Community Relations, and joined the world's leading energy company, Enron Corporation. At Enron, David was responsible for managing and overseeing all the Corporation's global sports marketing, sponsorships and event marketing initiatives, including but not limited to the Naming Rights Agreement for Enron Field.
Mr. Tagliarino joined SMG in 2001 as the Director of Sports Marketing & Sponsorships at Reliant Park in Houston, Texas. David was responsible for overseeing all new corporate sponsorship business as well as securing, negotiating and managing the company’s sports marketing initiatives. During his time at Reliant Park, David assisted in securing and/or managing some of the most high profile sporting events, including but not limited to the 2002 and 2005 Big 12 Conference Football Championships, Super Bowl XXXVIII, 2008, 2010 and 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional Tournaments and the 2011 and 2016 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four Tournament events.
In February 2012, David joined the Houston Dynamo organization as Senior Vice President, overseeing the team’s communications, marketing and sponsorship services departments. In 2014, David took on a new role and was named Chief Operating Officer for the Houston Dynamo, Houston Dash, BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston Sports Park and Dynamo Charities. His responsibilities include overseeing all finance and accounting operation, Information Technology (IT), Human Resources (HR), Legal, Box Office operations, facility operations and other key duties for Forever Orange, LLC.
Tagliarino is a Board Member of the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau and an active member at The Harvest United Methodist Church in Missouri City.
David and his wife Lisa currently reside in Missouri City, and are the proud parents of three beautiful children, Jordan (18 years old), Taylor (11 years old) and Colby (7 years old).
