Seattle Reign FC defeated the Houston Dash 2-0 in a preseason friendly at Providence Park on Wednesday night.

The first goal of the game came in the 37th minute when Seattle forward Beverly Yanez shot towards the far post, a deflection redirected the ball to the near post for the forward’s first goal of the preseason.

Seattle defender Kiersten Dallstream scored in the 82nd minute from 12 yards away. Lydia Williams made contact with the ball but the velocity drove the ball into the back of the net.

Rookie forward Rachel Daly had the first scoring opportunity of the game. In the second minute the rookie forward shot towards the near post missing the mark by a few inches.

Brazilian midfielder Andressa forced a save in the 12th minute with a shot 25 yards away from goal. Four minutes later, Allysha Chapman won a ball in Seattle’s defensive third and sent a cross into the six-yard box. Daly reached the cross but her header went over the crossbar.

In the 19th minute Amber Brooks found Chapman with a 30-yard pass that led to a cross outside the six-yard box. Trialist Caity Heap headed the ball towards goal but missed the near post.

Seattle maintained most of the possession towards the end of the first half forcing a save in the 42nd minute. Williams’ fingertips denied Yanez her second goal of the game.

Two minutes before the end of the first half defender Poliana dribbled into the box forcing a save with a left footed shot towards the far post.

Dash head coach Randy Waldrum made two substitutions at halftime. Chioma Ubogagu came in for Kealia Ohai and new signing Rebecca Moros came in for Chapman.

Monica Alvarado came in for Heap in the 67th minute and a minute later Brooks was shown a yellow card for excessive force.

Seattle midfielder Kim Little almost scored the second goal of the game in the 70th minute with a shot that went off the crossbar. Dallstream recovered the ball, shot towards goal but her shot went over the crossbar.

Stephanie Ochs came in for Poliana in the 70th minute and Tessa Gavilsky-Florio came in for Andressa in the 71st minute.

In the 75th minute Janine Beckie found Ubogagu outside the six-yard box. Ubogagu shot on goal but right at the goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer.

Ubogagu’s second shot of the game came in the 85th minute when she dribbled into the box and shot but a defender deflected the ball for a corner kick.
