After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Tu Dan “Kathy” Nguyen received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She went on to complete her residency at Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program, where she served as chief resident. Afterward, she completed her fellowship in sports medicine at the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston, Texas.
Board certified in family medicine, as well as sports medicine, Dr. Nguyen treats patients ages 6 and older. She provides care for sports related injuries and concussions, as well as wellness and preventive medicine. Her clinical interests include musculoskeletal injury management, return to sport and exercise, along with nutritional counseling and weight management.
In addition to caring for her patients, Dr. Nguyen is involved in numerous leadership positions for medical and sports medicine societies such as the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the Harris County Medical Society. She serves on the Houston Marathon Committee and the RodeoHouston Sports Medicine Committee. She also volunteers as a sideline physician for Stratford High School, University of Houston Athletics, and Houston Baptist University Athletics.
In her spare time, she enjoys globetrotting, hiking, cycling, paddle boarding, practicing yoga and trying new food.
