Matchday Safety FAQ's

Matchday Safety

Below you will find a list of FAQs regarding Matchday safety:

Will there be limited capacity of fans at BBVA Stadium this year?

With health and well-being top of mind, Houston Dynamo will reduce capacity this season to follow CDC social distancing guidelines and the guidance of state and local authorities. BBVA Stadium will seat approximately 20 percent of its capacity to home games approved with fans this season.

What areas would be affected by the reduced capacity?

Reductions in capacity will require a re-seat of the entire stadium including Season Ticket Members and premium areas. We worked with MLS and health officials to provide safe distancing between fans and on-field personnel, which resulted in removing all field seating and the lower seating bowl.

Will there be an opportunity to open more seats throughout the season if circumstances regarding COVID-19 improve?

Any future increase in capacity would depend on approvals from state and local authorities.

What are the key principles that were considered in creating a safe and healthy environment?
  • Physical 6 ft. distancing in-stadium
  • Mandated face masks for all
  • Daily temperature screenings and symptom monitoring for all staff
  • Robust Cleaning and disinfecting protocols throughout the venue for all staff
  • Robust hygiene protocols for all fans and staff
  • Clear signage, wayfinding, and posted education/protocol for all fans and staff
  • Continuous review and adjustment to evolving circumstances
What steps has Houston Dynamo and BBVA Stadium taken to maintain a safe physical distance?
  • Furniture adjustments
  • Distance markers
  • Physical barriers/partitions
  • Designated work areas
  • Closed common spaces unless distancing is assured
  • Adjusting hours/shifts
  • Signage
 Will face masks/coverings be mandatory?

Face coverings are required for all attendees over the age of 2 years old (including working staff and ticket-holders, other than while eating or drinking) once inside BBVA Stadium.

Do I need to bring my own hand sanitizer?

Touchless hand sanitizer and other hygiene products will be available throughout BBVA Stadium.

What should I expect while entering the stadium?

Queue lines will be enforced to maintain social distancing guidelines maintaining a minimum of 6’ between groups. Patrons will be security screened and magnetometers will be set 6’ apart. Your ticket will specifically identify which gate to enter.

Can I transfer my tickets to someone else?

For our fan reopening, tickets will be non-transferrable. This is done to ensure that each guest is able to fill out a health waiver and to ensure proper contact tracing after the event.

 Will bathrooms be available?

Socially distanced bathrooms will eliminate every other stall and sink. Arrows on the ground will indicate which direction to walk through each bathroom. All sinks and towel dispensers will be contactless.

Can I still bring a water bottle into BBVA Stadium and refill it in the water fountains?

Due to enhanced safety protocols related to COVID-19, all of the water fountains in BBVA Stadium have been turned off. Because of this we are amending our water bottle policy. Fans may now bring in one (1) sealed water bottle of up to 34 ounces.

Can I still bring a bag into BBVA Stadium?

Yes. However, we have updated our bag policy in order to allow our staff to inspect bags in a touchless manner. Because of that, we have reduced the maximum size allowed to 4.5” x 6.5” for guests.
