Houston picked up its third straight win and fourth straight shutout with a nationally televised decision over rival FC Dallas. The winner came in the second half, when Stuart Holden’s left-footed cross set up Kei Kamara for a powerful header and Mother’s Day celebration.
Pat Onstad and the Dynamo recorded their fourth consecutive shutout and third consecutive win. The Dynamo now hold the longest shutout streak in the 2009 MLS season at 403 minutes, passing the 350-minute streak by the Seattle Sounders. Houston also owns the all-time MLS mark, set by the 2007 championship team with a shutout streak of 727 straight minutes.
Kei Kamara's goal in the 61st minute was his first goal of the 2009 MLS season and his first since last year's playoff series against New York.
Ade Akinbiyi made his first career appearance at Robertson Stadium as an 85th minute sub for Brian Ching.
Andrew Hainault made his first career Dynamo and MLS start at left back in place of injured captain Wade Barrett. Geoff Cameron made his 15th career MLS start, and Brian Mullan and Brad Davis made their 210th and 140th career MLS starts, respectively. Richard Mulrooney made his 255th career MLS appearance.
