Dynamo, Quakes play to scoreless tie

The Houston Dynamo and San Jose Earthquakes played to a scoreless tie in a preseason friendly Wednesday night at Kezar Stadium before a crowd of 2,116. Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad made four saves to preserve the shutout. The Dynamo will play their final preseason game of the year on Saturday, facing Chivas USA at UCSB's Harder Stadium at 9 p.m. CT.

Wednesday's game saw midfielder Richard Mulrooney play the entire second half, his longest outing since knee surgery last July, and defender Andrew Hainault make his first appearance since the opening scrimmage on February 6. Recently re-acquired Adrian Serioux played his first minutes in midfield for Houston after starting on the back line on Sunday against the Austin Aztex. The Dynamo used 20 different players, with Onstad and forward Luis Angel Landín the only players to go the full 90 minutes.

The Dynamo's regular season begins March 27 with a road match against FC Dallas, and the Houston home opener is on Thursdy, April 1, against defending MLS Cup champion Real Salt Lake. More information is available by calling (713) 276-7500.
