Walk-on positions are still available for the Sueño MLS 2010 tryout on Saturday in Houston, but pre-registration for the wildly popular nationally-televised player search is full.
Players are encouraged to sign up in person for the walk-up list at USA Park starting at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday. The tryout runs both Saturday and Sunday at USA Park, which is located at 8341 Hall Road in Houston.
Entering its fourth year, Sueño MLS 2010 includes local tryouts in Houston, Chicago and Los Angeles. In each city, players will be battling for one of 10 invitations to a week-long trial with their respective youth development host club.
Five from each city will ultimately be invited to a five-day “Final Event” in Los Angeles, and the ultimate champion will be crowned on May 9, on “República Deportiva,” the Univision weekly Spanish-language sports show that will chronicle the tryouts in a “reality show within a show” format.
Eligible players must be between the ages of 14 and 18 years old (with appropriate identification) and retain their amateur status. Current collegiate student athletes will not be permitted to attend the final event in Los Angeles.
