HOUSTON – Manchester United have been packing them in during their North American tour, and the last stop on their trip across the pond will be the biggest.
More than 70,000 tickets have been sold for Wednesday’s MLS All-Star Game at Reliant Stadium, making the match against the English powerhouse a sell-out.
The match will also mark the second-biggest All-Star Game since the inaugural version in 1996, when more than 78,000 fans saw the East defeat the West 3-2 at Giants Stadium.
While MLS will field a team featuring Landon Donovan, Juan Pablo Angel and Guillermo Barros Schelotto on Wednesday, Man. United will unveil their much-hyped new signing Javier “Chicharito” Hernández. The Mexican National Team star made his official transfer to the club from Chivas Guadalajara earlier this month.
Wednesday’s game wraps up Man. United’s trip through MLS markets. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men also faced Scottish power Celtic in Toronto and dropped in on the Philadelphia Union and Kansas City Wizards.
The Red Devils next travel to Guadalajara, Mexico, where they’ll take on Chicharito’s former club at the brand new Estadio Omnilife on Friday.
