Eric Wynalda to appear at Soccer Fest

American soccer legend Eric Wynalda will be at Robertson Stadium tomorrow night to sign autographs for fans prior to the Dynamo game against the New York Red Bulls. Wynalda will be at the AT&T/Fox Soccer Channel booth in Soccer Fest signing autographs and taking photos from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.


Considered a true American sport icon, Eric Wynalda was the original “poster boy” for soccer in the United States. Wynalda made his U.S. men's national team debut against Costa Rica in 1990. 


With a long resume of historic accomplishments, Wynalda has played in three FIFA World Cups, making eight appearances in the 1990 and 1994 World Cups combined. 


Over his career, Wynalda spent time both overseas and stateside, playing professional in Germany and Mexico, before finishing his illustrious career in Major League Soccer. 


Eric started his MLS career with the San Jose Clash in 1996 and earned his place in United States soccer history on April 6, 1996, when he scored the league’s first goal in the inaugural match against D.C. United.  Eric was the 1996 MLS Scoring Champion with 33 points (10 goals and 13 assists). 


Since retiring from professional soccer in 2001, Eric has worked as a soccer broadcaster and analyst.
