Dynamo GKs caught up in glove snafu

Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear faces an interesting dilemma in selecting a goalkeeper this weekend. Pat Onstad hopes to be at full health less than two weeks after surgery in Germany, while Tally Hall has made eight straight competitive starts, 10 out of 12 in all competitions, and 12 out of 15 including friendlies.

We spotted the above photograph at a Dynamo training session recently and thought Tally might be trying to make some sort of statement, but it turned out to be something else entirely.

As Tally explained it to us, when he called to order some new goalkeeper gloves, he was told his preferred models were out of stock. The equipment representative offered him a model that Pat had previously rejected and, without many alternatives, Tally accepted.

However, the gloves came complete with 'Onstad' label, which clearly does not make sense. How many professional goalkeepers do you know wearing gloves with someone else's name? When Pat saw the gloves, he exclaimed that it was a pair he had actually been trying to get for years.

At any rate, Tally kept the gloves but has made it clear they are NOT Pat Onstad's. Which means that no matter who starts in goal on Saturday, the gloves will say 'Onstad.'
