Dynamo acquire Clark in deal with Rapids

The Houston Dynamo have acquired midfielder Colin Clark and allocation money from the Colorado Rapids in exchange for midfielder Brian Mullan and the Dynamo's fourth-round pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, it was announced today.

Clark, 26, is a United States international in his fifth MLS season as a wide attacking midfielder. He is currently unavailable due to a torn left ACL but is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2011 season. He had outstanding seasons in 2008 and 2009, totaling eight goals and eight assists in league play, but has suffered season-ending ACL tears in each of the last two seasons.

Clark played collegiate soccer at SMU in Dallas from 2002-04 and signed with the Rapids in 2006. He made his debut for the U.S. national team during the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Mullan, 32, is the Dynamo’s all-time leader in appearances in all competitions (184) but had made just 17 league starts in 2010, his fewest since his second year in MLS in 2002. In all competitions, he ranks second in Houston history in starts, minutes, assists, and yellow cards and tied for sixth with 12 goals. The Littleton, Colo., resident was part of both Dynamo championship teams and contributed three goals and three assists in 2010.

The Dynamo return to action on Saturday night, hosting Toronto FC at Robertson Stadium at 7:30 p.m. in their final Saturday night home game of the season, punctuated by a post-game fireworks display. Discounted ticket offers are available at HoustonDynamo.com/tickets.
