Deric to make first start in goal tonight

Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric, a 22-year-old alumnus of Klein High School in the Houston area, is set to become the first Dynamo Academy graduate in club history to start an MLS game tonight when the Dynamo face the San Jose Earthquakes at 9 p.m. CT at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Deric was named in the team’s lineup submitted one hour prior to kickoff.

Deric, the first home-grown player ever signed by the Dynamo when he joined the club in March 2009, is in his second professional season but has yet to make his competitive debut. He played 45 minutes and earned a win in a June 10 friendly win against the Laredo Heat.

Deric originally joined the Dynamo Academy in January 2007 while a senior at Klein High School. He is one of two players from the Dynamo Youth Development System, presented by Statoil, to be signed to a professional contract by the Dynamo.
