In the first match of the afternoon, the U-18s (4-6-4) grabbed an early lead on Chance Bergen's ninth goal of the season. With the wind sweeping across the field, Josue Morales (Houston Chavez) played a free kick into the box in the 25th minute. Alan Hernandez (Pearland) flicked a header that landed on the thigh of Bergen, who placed the ball past the sprawling goalkeeper to put the Dynamo ahead.

With minutes to go in the first half, Solar forward Colton Missimo found himself unmarked in the penalty box and, after maneuvering past a sliding Juan Ramirez (Houston Madison), he beat the Dynamo goalkeeper to equalize the match. Solar forward Alfred Koroma added the team's second goal in the 60th minute, and although the Dynamo continued to press in the second half, they were unable to even the match. Houston's best opportunity came in the 87th minute, when substitute Leo Ayala (Challenge Early College) leapt into the penalty box for a Morales free kick, but Ayala's header sailed over the net.

The Dynamo U-16 squad (7-7) lost its third straight match, falling to Solar 2-0 on a windy day at Carl Lewis. Solar got on the board early after Anthony Naranjo picked up a loose ball at the top of the penalty box and scored past Dynamo goalkeeper Juan Navarrete (Katy Cinco Ranch). Although the wind made it difficult for the Dynamo to string passes together, they continued to press and hit the crossbar twice in the 30th minute. Solar put the game out of reach with Jesse Miralrio's goal in the 69th minute.

Players from both Academy squads could see time in the Academy Showcase against collegiate players on Monday, December 20, but the teams will not return to USSF Development Academy action until April while breaking for the high school season.
