Newly signed Houston Dynamo forward Carlo Costly led the Honduran national team to victory, scoring the two goals in los Catrachos’ 2-0 win over Venezuela on Wednesday night in a friendly at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Honduras veteran broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when he buried a corner kick swung in by Mario Martínez. In the 68th minute, Costly gave Honduras its second goal of the night. Fellow forward Jerry Bengtson whipped in a cross from the right side for Costly, who put it away for the final 2-0 score line.

Also playing in the match were Sporting Kansas City midfielder Roger Espinoza and FC Dallas forward Marvin Chávez. Espinoza started the match and went 82 minutes before coming off. Chávez, meanwhile, came on as a sub in the 63rd minute and immediately threatened to score, but sent a shot just wide of the post.
