The Houston Dynamo Academy traveled to Plano last weekend for their third game of a four-game road trip. Late-game dramatics were prevalent in both matches, as the Dynamo U-18s received a stoppage-time goal from Jose Cubillan to defeat Andromeda 2-1, while the U-16s gave up a stoppage-time goal to give the hosts a 2-2 draw.

The Dynamo U-18s fell behind early after Andromeda midfielder Sebastian Mata snuck home a free kick past Dynamo goalkeeper Fernando Piña. After taking a 1-0 deficit into the half, Houston came out re-energized in the second half and pushed forward for the equalizer. In the 75th minute, midfielder Christian Camera sent a long throw-in over the Andromeda defense. The ball bounced around before Dynamo center back Bradley Bourgeois came darting through to send the ball past the goalkeeper. Houston continued to pressure the Andromeda back line, forcing mistakes and opening up scoring opportunities. That pressure paid off in the stoppage time, when a defensive turnover led to a Dynamo cross to the Andromeda backpost. The ball bounced off the post and fell to midfielder Jose Cubillan, who took one touch and fired the ball into the open net.

In the second match of the day, the Dynamo U-16s fell behind 1-0 before storming back in the second half. Carlos Ibarra put Houston on the board in the 51st minute after volleying a bouncing ball from six yards out. Ten minutes later, Irvin Ramirez gave Houston it's first lead of the day, sending a 25-yard free kick past the diving Andromeda goalkeeper. Similar to the Dynamo U-18s, the Andromeda U-16s were not to be denied. Three minutes into stoppage time, Andromeda sent a long throw-in that Houston could not clear. The ball fell to midfielder Estevan Duarte who found himself one-on-one with the Dynamo goalkeeper and slotted it into the corner of the net to give the hosts a point at home.

On Sunday, the U-13 and U-14 squads traveled to Plano for their Pre-Academy Leage matches against Andromeda. The U-14s won 3-1 behind two goals from Carlos Valdez and one from Christian Molina. The U-13s won 5-0 behind goals from Alejandro Lezama, Jommar Reyes, Hector Ramirez, and Layee Kromah.

All four teams will hit the road next weekend for matches against Dallas Texans. The U-18s will kick off at 2 p.m. with the U-16s to follow at 4:30 p.m. On Sunday, the U-13s will kick off at 2 p.m. with the U-14s to follow at 4 p.m.
