The Houston Dynamo fell to D.C. United, 3-2, Saturday night at RFK Stadium. Dynamo striker Will Bruin and United striker Maicon Santos traded braces but Dwayne De Rosario's strike proved to be the difference as the Dynamo fell for the second time in 2012 (2-2-2).
Santos put the home club ahead in the 11th minute after he one-timed a cross from the right corner from strike partner Chris Pontius.
Bruin respondedin Houston in the 50th minute as he received a cross from defender Jermaine Taylor and volleyed the equalizer into the side of the net. The second-year striker has scored four goals in his last three games and is one goal shy of equaling his 2011 total from his rookie season.
Houston fell behind again when De Rosario curled in a cross that skipped in the middle of the penalty area and bounced into the net off the inside post.
Bruin evened the score five minutes later after Corey Ashe fed Bruin five yards outside of the D.C. penalty area. Bruin took a touch and ripped a shot that D.C. goalkeeper Joe Willis dove in front of, but it slipped under his grasp for the tying goal.
Santos tallied the winning goal in the 70th minute after he headed home a cross from left back Daniel Woolard.
Tally Hall made four saves on the night, including a point-blank stop on De Rosario in the 82nd minute. De Rosario made a long run from inside his own half and ended up with a great opportunity from the center of the penalty area, but Hall saved his low shot.
Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis made a return to the field after missing two games with a left calf strain and played the final 28 minutes.
Corey Ashe made his 175th appearance for the Dynamo in all competitions, becoming the third Houston player to reach 175.
Brian Ching made his 150th start for Houston in all competitions to become the fourth Dynamo player to start 150 matches.
Geoff Cameron has played the full time in 36 consecutive MLS matches (playoffs included) since he last missed a game on May 4, 2011. The defender has played 3,216 consecutive MLS minutes.
The Dynamo will play the final game of their franchise-record seven-game road trip on Wednesday, May 9 when they meet the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.
