COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, May 23, 2012) – The Colorado Rapids Reserves tied the Houston Dynamo Reserves 2-2 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park today. Rapids forward Edu and trialist Kevin Garcia each notched a goal, while midfielder Jamie Smith got his first competitive action since returning from a torn ACL suffered last October.

After several chances from each team to open the half, the Rapids were the first to score when Edu finished a corner kick taken by Smith in the 23rd minute. Houston responded in the 49th minute to tie the game when Je-Vaughn Watson finished to the near post after a run down the left flank. Colin Rolfe’s goal in the last five minutes of the match put the Dynamo ahead, but Colorado rallied in stoppage time with a goal by Garcia, assisted by Kohei Yamada.

The draw brings the Rapids to a 3-2-1 record and third in the Central/Mountain Division, while Houston sits one spot ahead in the standings with a 3-1-1 record. The Colorado Rapids Reserves next face Sporting KC at home on June 9, and the Dynamo face Texas rivals FC Dallas on June 16.
