The Houston Dynamo announced today that Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara has confirmed participation in the first edition of the Dynamo Academy Cup, to be held August 24-26 at the Houston Amateur Sports Park. The Dynamo Academy Cup will feature teams at the U-13, U-14, U-15, U-16 and U-18 levels.
Chivas is one of the preeminent clubs in Mexico, with an Academy that boasts alumni such as Javier "Chicharito" Hernadez, Carlos Vela and Carlos Salcido.
"We are happy that Chivas has chosen to particpate in this year's Dynamo Academy Cup," Dynamo director of youth development James Clarkson said. "Chivas is known for their top talent at the youth levels and their presence will only enhance this year's tournament."
In addition to Chivas, Mexican club Cocula, an affiliate of the Dynamo will participate in the tournament.
