The Houston Dynamo announced today details of an open tryout for aspiring soccer players. Dynamo Trials 2012 will take place on Saturday, September 22 at the Houston Amateur Sports Park and is open to soccer players 18 years of age and older.

This is the seventh-consecutive year in which the tryouts have been held. During last year’s edition of Dynamo Trials, more than 200 soccer players from around the country competed for a spot on the Dynamo’s first team. To register online, visit HoustonDynamo.com/DynamoTrials.

The official tryout is comprised of a fitness test, skills competition and a game against the Dynamo Academy U-18 team, presented by Statoil. Participants who pass the fitness test, which will be held on September 22, will be invited back the following day for the skills competition. From there, a select group of players will be invited to compete against the Dynamo Academy on September 29. Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear and his coaching staff will be on hand to evaluate that match.

Registration for Dynamo Trials is $75, and includes two tickets to the Dynamo’s CONCACAF Champions League Match on September 20 vs. CD FAS. Partial proceeds from Dynamo Trials 2012 will benefit Dynamo Charities in support of the Dynamo’s Youth Development System.

Dynamo Trials sponsors include: Methodist Center for Sports Medicine, General Mills, IKEA, Crowne Plaza Dowtown and Direct Energy.
