The Houston Dynamo and Dynamo Charities today unveiled their Ching’s Champions initiative, presented by Kroger. The campaign, led by Dynamo forward Brian Ching, will recognize Houston area residents who have improved lives in the community through passion and commitment.
The initiative will be conducted by Dynamo Charities, presented by the Halliburton Charitable Foundation, through an online nomination process. Fans can nominate a person from the Houston community that has exhibited “Champion” spirit while defying personal obstacles or enriching the lives of others. Moreover, a Ching’s Champion candidate is someone who has gone above the call of duty to serve their community, performed a lifesaving or heroic deed, or made a significant contribution to improving the lives of their family, friends or community.
“Since moving to Houston in 2006, I have been wonderfully embraced by this community,” said Ching. “Now it is my turn to recognize those who have offered service to our city in extraordinary ways.”

All ten winning candidates will receive a four-minute Kroger shopping spree on Wednesday, Oct. 17. The shopping sprees will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Kroger store at 1035 North Shepherd Dr., Houston, 77008 and will include a medal ceremony.
“This program is a really fun way to reward and recognize people in our own community,” said Rebecca King, consumer affairs manager for Kroger. “The Houston Dynamo has been a great partner this season and Kroger is excited to bring in some of their most deserving fans from the stadium to our shopping aisles!”
Ching’s Champions will be honored in an on-field ceremony at the Dynamo’s Oct. 20 home match vs. the Philadelphia Union, presented by The Home Depot, and will receive a Ching’s Champions gift pack and medal.
