Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor has been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 5. The Jamaican center back was part of a back line that shut down the potent San Jose Earthquakes attack led by 2012 MLS MVP Chris Wondolowski.

Taylor played 90 minutes in Saturday's 2-0 win after playing 90 minutes in Jamaica's two World Cup qualifiers last week. The 5-foot-10 center back was efficient with his distribution, completing 80% of his passes.

MLSsoccer.com editor Nicholas Rosano had this to say about Taylor's performance:

Deserves much of the credit for keeping reigning Golden Boot champ Wondolowski quiet as the Quakes failed to really get going offensively in their 2-0 loss to the Dynamo.

Dynamo midfielder Boniek Garcia earned Team of the Week honorable mention for his performance against San Jose. The Honduran winger returned to the Dynamo follow Los Catrachos World Cup qualifiers, and assisted on Will Bruin's goal in the 17th minute.
