The Houston Dynamo announced today that midfielder Alex Dixon has been loaned to the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League (NASL). The loan is effective immediately and will expire on May 5, at which time Dixon will return to the Dynamo.

Dixon, 23, appeared in four regular season games (one start) in 2012. He also started eight MLS Reserve League games, scoring two goals and notching three assists, helping the Dynamo win the Central/Mountain Division title. The Atascocita High School graduate is one of five players from the Dynamo Academy, presented by Statoil, to have signed a homegrown contract since 2009.

Dixon becomes the second Dynamo player to be sent on loan this season after midfielder Brian Ownby was loaned to USL-Pro side Richmond Kickers last month.

After last weekend’s 2-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes, the Dynamo head to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to take on the Portland Timbers. Saturday’s match will kick off at 9:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on CSN Houston or through the MLS Stream of the Week.

Following this weekend’s match, the Dynamo will return home to face the Chicago Fire on Sunday April 14 at 4 p.m. Individual tickets start at $24 and are available at www.houstondynamo.com/tickets, by calling (713) 276-GOAL or at the stadium ticket office (2200 Texas St., Houston) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
