Houston Dynamo defender Jermaine Taylor underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his left foot and will miss the remainder of the 2013 season, it was announced today.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Kevin Varner at Houston Methodist Hospital.
Taylor, 28, appeared in 26 games for the Dynamo this season. The Jamaican has been a valuable part of the club since his arrival in 2011, appearing in 66 games (62 starts) at every position across the back line. Taylor started four games in the 2012 MLS Cup playoffs as the Dynamo reached the MLS Cup final.
The 5-foot-10 defender joined the Dynamo in February 2011 from St. George’s SC (Jamaica).
Taylor has earned 73 caps for the Jamaican national team and recorded an assist in the Reggae Boyz’ World Cup qualifying match vs. Costa Rica on Sept. 10.
