Houston Dynamo forward Jason Johnson called into Jamaican national team

Houston Dynamo forward Jason Johnson has been called up by the Jamaican national football team for international friendly matches against Trinidad and Tobago on November 15 and 19, it was announced today.


Johnson will join the Reggae Boyz in Jamaica today for the exhibition matches against Trinidad and Tobago. The two Carribean nations will face each other in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Nov. 15 before travelling to Port of Spain, Trinidad for the second match on Nov. 19. Johnson will return to the Dynamo in time for the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship against Sporting Kansas City on Nov. 23 at Sporting Park.


The Happy News, Jamaica native has earned one cap with the Jamaican senior team so far, making his debut in 2010 against Argentina. Johnson was a member of the Jamaica squad for 2012 Olympic qualifying.


Johnson, 23, is in his first season with the Dynamo after being selected in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. He made 14 appearances in the MLS regular season, scoring one goal. The rookie also made appearances in the U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League action, starting six games across the two competitions, scoring one goal.
