The Dynamo Academy met local rival Texans SC last weekend. Dynamo director of youth development James Clarkson shared his thoughts on the weekend.

The Houston Dynamo Academy continued the young 2014-15 season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy last weekend against local Houston rival Texans SC.

The Dynamo Academy Under-18s secured a 1-0 win on Saturday through Giovanni Pacheco’s goal in the 77th minute. Goalkeeper Andy Rios kept his second clean sheet through two games this season.

“It was a good result on the road against one of the local teams,” said Dynamo director of youth development James Clarkson. “It was a really tight game and the boys worked really hard. I felt as the game went along we looked stronger and stronger. We scored a good goal – Gio Pacheco got into the near post off a David Brown cross and scored.”

The U-16s fell to Texans SC, 1-0, on Saturday.

“We played much better in the second half, but unfortunately gave a goal away on a set piece in the last minute of regulation."

The Dynamo Academy U-15s opened the Texas Pre-Academy League after competing in the Torneo Internacional in Mexico City in mid-September. Returning to domestic play, the U-15s played to a 3-3 draw against Texans SC on Sunday.

“Some poor defending put them behind 3-1, but they managed to come back and score two goals to tie the game up and were probably worthy of a win.”

The Dynamo Academy U-14s opened the season on Saturday with a 4-2 win that featured four different goal scorers. Marcelo Palomino, Aniruddh Thankur, Domingo Mba Ayecaba and Jesus Ortiz each scored as the team opened the season with three points.

“They are a good side. They played some lovely stuff and dominated the game.”

The U-13s opened its season with a 3-0 triumph over the Texans.

The U-12s and U-11s played friendly games against Space City and Alliance, respectively.

“The 11s and 12s played very well. I watched them on Sunday and they played some nice football and scored some wonderful goals.”
