Houston Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod, defender Allysha Chapman called up to Canada Women’s National Team

Houston Dash goalkeeper Erin McLeod and defender Allysha Chapman have been called into the Canada Women’s National Team for the 2015 Cyprus Cup, head coach John Herdman announced today.


Canada, three time winners of the tournament, announced a 24-player roster for the trip. Canada is in Group A and will face Scotland (March 4), Korea Republic (March 6) and Italy (March 9), with placement matches occurring on March 11. Norway and Switzerland will take part in the 2015 Women’s World Cup this summer in Canada along with the United States. Matches against Norway and Switzerland as well as the placement game will be shown live on Fox Sports 1.


McLeod, 31, has earned 100 caps for Canada at the senior level. The St. Albert, Alberta, native is just the 12th player to reach the century mark for Canada, doing so with a shutout win against Sweden on Nov. 24, 2014. McLeod, team captain for the Dash, was named Team MVP and Players’ Player of the Year after making 83 saves in 20 appearances (19 starts) during the 2014 season.


Chapman, 26, has made six appearances for Canada. The defender made her international debut against Japan on Oct. 25, 2014, and played in three matches as Canada won the Four Nations Cup in China this January. Chapman recorded her first international assist in the opening match against the Korea Republic, a 2-1 win. The Oshawa, Ontario native was allocated to the Dash on Jan. 14.


The Dash begin preparations for the 2015 season with their annual Dash Day celebration on March 8 and preseason camp kicking off on March 9.
