Houston Dash to hold Women’s World Cup kickoff watch party prior to June 6 match

The Houston Dash will host a free viewing party for the opening match of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the Bud Light Beer Garden on Orange Ave. prior to their match against Portland Thorns FC at BBVA Compass Stadium on June 6.

The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. at the Bud Light Beer Garden outside BBVA Compass Stadium as host nation Canada—featuring Dash players Erin McLeod, Allysha Chapman and Lauren Sesselmann—opens the tournament against China. The watch party is free and open to the public of all ages; gates open at 4:30 p.m.

From the watch party, fans can walk over to BBVA Compass Stadium to watch the Dash take on Portland Thorns FC at 7:30 p.m. Beer Garden ticket packages, which include a game ticket and two pre-game drinks, are just $16 and available at HoustonDashSoccer.com/beergarden or by calling (713) 276-GOAL.

In addition, the Dash and Michelob Ultra will host watch parties for all remaining World Cup matches at The Phoenix on Westheimer (1915 Westheimer Rd, Houston). Watch parties for the U.S. Women’s National Team will include Dash players, giveaways, drinks, and food specials. The United States—with Dash players Carli Lloyd, Meghan Klingenberg and Morgan Brian—begins their tournament on June 8 vs. Australia (6:30 p.m. kickoff) then faces Sweden onJune 12 (7 p.m.) and Nigeria on June 16 (7 p.m.) to close out the group stage. Canada’s remaining group matches take place on June 11 vs. New Zealand (8 p.m.) and June 15 vs. the Netherlands (6:30 p.m.).
