Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been named to U.S. national team 23-man roster by head coach Jürgen Klinsmann for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Additionally, Dynamo defender DaMarcus Beasley is eligible to join the squad later in the tournament after he was named to the 35-man provisional roster on June 10.   All players on the 23-player roster must report to training camp, to be held in Nashville, TN, no later than Monday, June 29.

Davis, 33, has earned 17 caps with the U.S. men’s national team, most recently a start against Germany in the final group stage game at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Dynamo captain also made five appearances in 2013 in qualifying matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The St. Charles, Missouri native provided two assists in the U.S.’ final qualifying match against Panama in October 2013 to secure a first place finish in the region.

The U.S. is in Group A at the Gold Cup and will open the group stage on July 7 against Honduras in Frisco, Texas. The group stage continues with Haiti on July 10 and Panama on July 13.

The 14-year MLS veteran has 116 career MLS assists, third on the league’s all-time list, and is sixth on the MLS list with 351 career regular-season games. A six-time MLS All-Star, Davis has 76 assists since the start of the 2009 season, the most in MLS during that span.

This is Davis’ second Gold Cup after he made his international debut in the 2005 edition and scored the championship-winning penalty kick in a shootout victory over Panama.

The Gold Cup is the biennial competition of the men's national teams governed by CONCACAF, determining the regional champion of North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. If the U.S. wins the 2015 Gold Cup, it will qualify for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
