Houston Dash sign defender Jen LaPonte

The Houston Dash have signed defender Jen LaPonte, the club announced today. Per club and league policy, terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

LaPonte, 25, has made five appearances for the Dash this season as an amateur player, with two starts. The Castro Valley, California native has spent the past two seasons in the NWSL with Seattle Reign FC, Sky Blue FC, Portland Thorns FC and the Boston Breakers but did not make any appearances.

The outside back was a four year letterwinner at Santa Clara University but had injuries cut her junior and senior seasons short. LaPonte was a United States youth international, representing the U.S. from the U-14 to the U-23 level. LaPonte will be available for selection in tonight’s match.

The Dash host Sky Blue FC tonight at 7:30 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets are still available at HoustonDashSoccer.com, by calling (713) 276-GOAL, or at the BBVA Compass Stadium box office. Tonight’s game will also be available live at FOXSportsGo.com or on the FOX Sports GO mobile app.
