Houston Dash midfielder Carli Lloyd has been named one of three finalists for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Player of the Year Award, it was announced today. Joining Lloyd as finalists are Germany and Frankfurt striker Célia Šašić and Japan and Okayama Yunogo Belle midfielder Aya Miyama.
Lloyd's midfield goal in the Women's World Cup final was not included as one of the three finalists for the 2015 Púskas Award. The winner of the Women's World Player of the Year Award will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d'Or award ceremony on Jan. 11 in Zurich, Switzerland.
In addition, defender Allysha Chapman and goalkeeper Erin McLeod were two of the eight nominees for the Canadian Soccer Association's Canadian Player of the Year. The winner for that award will be announced on Dec. 18.
