NWSL releases 2016 Houston Dash regular season schedule

The National Women’s Soccer League announced the 2016 regular season schedule today, including the Houston Dash’s 20 fixtures.


The Dash open the 2016 regular season against the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, April 16 at BBVA Compass Stadium. The first road game is the following week against the newest NWSL team, the Orlando Pride, at the Orlando Citrus Bowl.


The 10-game BBVA Compass Stadium schedule includes a game against each of the teams in the NWSL and two games against Alex Morgan and the Orlando Pride. The Dash will face the Pride four times, twice at home (May 20 and Sept. 3) and twice in Orlando (April 23 and June 23).


The 2016 home schedule includes five Saturday games, three Friday games and two Sunday games. The Dash will host the 2015 NWSL Champions FC Kansas City on June 19. The regular season concludes at home on Saturday, Sept. 25 against Hope Solo and Seattle Reign FC. Kickoff time for the first nine home games is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., kickoff information for the last home game will be released at a later time.


The NWSL will take a break from August 1 to August 25 so that players can participate in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.


This is the third season in franchise history. The Dash selected defender Cari Roccaro and forwards Rachel Daly and Janine Beckie in the first round of the 2016 NWSL College Draft. Other offseason acquisitions include Australian international goalkeeper Lydia Williams and midfielder Cami Privett.
