Carli Lloyd and Morgan Brian were selected to represent the United States Women’s National Team at the inaugural SheBelieves Cup. This round-robin tournament begins on March 3 and will feature games against England, France and Germany.
The USWNT open the tournament against England at 7:30 p.m. on March 3. On March 6, the USWNT face France at 2 p.m. and close the tournament three days later against Germany.
Both Dash players recently won the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship with a 2-0 victory over Canada at BBVA Compass Stadium. Brian won the Golden Ball as the most outstanding player throughout the tournament. Her two assists secured a ticket to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro with a 5-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago.
Lloyd, the current FIFA Women’s Player of the Year, scored four goals and registered an assist in the tournament. The USWNT co-captain, Brian and Dash teammate Allysha Chapman were selected for the tournament's Best XI.
The #SheBelieves movement was developed by USWNT players in the run-up to the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. This movement was developed to inspire young girls to accomplish all their goals and dreams, on and off the field. In addition to the games, a four-day fantasy camp for players in the Nashville, Tennessee area will take place from March 4-7.
This is the final tournament scheduled for the USWNT prior to the beginning of the NWSL preseason. The Dash open the 2016 NWSL regular season against the Chicago Red Stars at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
