Dynamo forward Will Bruin continued his torrid start to the season Saturday night, with a brace before intermission to give Houston a 2-1 lead heading into the locker room. Bruin’s exploits earned him a spot on the Team of the Week for Week 3 from both MLSsoccer.com and Goal.com.

Bruin opened his account with a deft touch over charging Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles in the 35th minute. Dynamo midfielder Boniek García lofted a pass in behind the Red Bulls back line and Bruin ran onto it and lifted it past Robles and into the back of the net with the outside of his right boot, leveling the match early on. Six minutes later, the sixth-year man out of Indiana pounced on a failed clearance inside the box and slotted home a left-footed shot to give the Dynamo the lead.

It was Bruin’s eighth career multi-goal performance in his career and his first of the season. His last came in June of last season, also against the Red Bulls.

García earned a bench spot on the MLSsoccer.com Team of the Week thanks to his two-assist performance in his first start of the season. In addition to setting up Bruin’s opener, Boniek laid off a pass to Alex in the 65th minute to give the Dynamo a 3-2 lead. In his last two outings against the Red Bulls, ‘El Presidente’ has registered a goal and four assists.
