The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (6-5-7; 25 points) continue a five-game homestand at 7:30 p.m. CDT tonight when they face Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC at the UT RGV Soccer Complex. The match will be streamed live above and here.

The Toros will aim for a breakthrough goal after playing to a scoreless draw in consecutive matches, most recently against the Tulsa Roughnecks Sunday night. Extremely windy conditions affected both teams throughout the match, and the Toros were unable to score despite dominating the match with eight shots on goal.

Rio Grande Valley added Mexican-American forward Rubén Luna on Wednesday. The 24-year-old was born in Ciudad Victoria and moved to Dallas at age two before joining the FC Dallas Academy. The striker played with FC Dallas from 2010-12 and then joined the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2013, scoring 10 goals in 19 appearances while helping Atlanta win the North American Soccer League Spring season. Most recently, Luna played for Inter Playa del Carmen in the Mexican third division from 2014-15.

Tonight is RGV FC’s first game against Whitecaps FC 2 (9-2-5; 32 points), which enjoys a three-point cushion atop the USL’s Western Conference and a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1). Kyle Greig leads the way with 10 goals, third-most in the USL, while Daniel Haber has added five goals.

RGV FC midfielder Charlie Ward has played every minute this season – 1,620 – and is tied for second in the league in minutes played.

*Note: The Dynamo and RGV FC have a hybrid affiliation, with the Dynamo in control of all technical aspects of the soccer operation, including the construction of the roster and the coaching staff. Meanwhile, the McAllen, Texas based Rio Grande Valley Vipers run the business operations, including the current construction of a 9,400 seat soccer stadium that will resemble Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium.
