The Houston Dash signed American defender Claire Falknor, pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate, the club announced today.

The 23-year-old spent 2016 in Germany with Bayern Munich in the Frauen-Bundesliga where she scored two goals in nine appearances. She  won the league title with the Bavarian club and reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Women’s Champion’s League.

“Claire brings a playing style that fits nicely with the way we play here in Houston.  She’s very skillful, with the ability to play anywhere across the back line,” head coach Randy Waldrum said. “She has a high soccer IQ, and will adapt quickly to our way of playing.  She’s highly competitive and knows how to win, proving that both at Florida and with Bayern Munich. She’ll be a great young addition to our team.”

The University of Florida product was a 2015 All-American and on the 2015 All-Southeastern Conference Team. The defender finished with 65 consecutive starts and later represented the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team at the Four Nations Tournament with current Dash teammates Cari Roccaro and Jane Campbell.

The Dash announced earlier this week that they will open their 2017 season at home against the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday, April 15. Tickets for that game will go on sale Wednesday, March 1.
