Houston Dash goalkeeper Lydia Williams named to Australia’s Tournament of Nations roster

Houston Dash goalkeeper Lydia Williams was named to Australia’s 21-player roster for the Tournament of Nations by head coach Alen Stajcic, the Football Federation of Australia announced last evening.


Williams has earned 60 international caps at the senior level, which include quarterfinal appearances in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympic Games. The goalkeeper has tallied one clean sheet for Houston in eight starts this season.


Australia, ranked seventh in FIFA Women’s World Rankings, will open the tournament against the U.S. Women’s National Team on July 27 in Seattle. Three days later, Australia will face Japan in San Diego, and their final game will take place on Aug. 3 against her Dash teammates Andressinha, Bruna and the Brazilian National Team in Carson, Calif.


Williams, Andressinha and Bruna will be available for Houston’s final home match prior to the Tournament of Nations this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Boston Breakers. For tickets and additional information, visit HoustonDashSoccer.com.
