Postgame Notes: Houston Dynamo vs. Colorado Rapids

THE RESULT:

  • Dropped the Dynamo’s record on the season to 10-9-8 overall and 9-1-3 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
  • Broke a 12-game home unbeaten streak for the Dynamo, the longest for the club since a league-record 30-game home unbeaten run from 2011-13.
  • Dropped Houston’s record against Colorado to 8-11-7 all-time and 5-3-4 at home.


TEAM NOTES:

  • Before the game and at halftime, the Dynamo honored the heroes throughout the Houston community who went above and beyond the call of duty during and after Hurricane Harvey. Among the heroes recognized were Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo and Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña; members of the Louisiana Cajun Navy; Harris County Flood Control District meteorologist Jeff Lindner; Houston-area first responders; and local Houston media members. The club also recognized the everyday heroes throughout the Houston community who volunteered, donated or simply helped their neighbors during the storm.
  • The first Video Assisted Review procedure in Dynamo regular-season history occurred in the 58th minute when referee Hilario Grajeda signaled that he would review a foul by Dynamo MF Alex as a possible red card violation. After further review, no red card offense was identified. The yellow card shown to Alex stood.
  • The Dynamo returned to action for the first time since August 23 at Dallas after having their scheduled match on Saturday, August 26 postponed due to Hurricane Harvey.
  • The Dynamo utilized their 25th different starting lineup in 27 matches this season.
  • The Dynamo were tied at halftime for the ninth time this season. Houston is now 0-4-5 this season when tied at intermission.
  • The Dynamo conceded the first goal of the game for the 11th time this season and fell to 1-9-1 in those games.
  • The Dynamo outshot Colorado 18-14. It was the It marked the 16th time this season that the Dynamo had more shots than their opponents, and they fell to 8-5-3 in those games.
  • The Dynamo controlled the majority of possession in the game, holding the ball for 64.3 percent of the night. It was the sixth time this season that the Dynamo had more possession than their opponent, and they fell to 0-5-1 in those games.

STARTING XI NOTES:

  • DF Philippe Senderos made his Major League Soccer and Houston Dynamo debut tonight.
  • MF Alex received a yellow card 57th minute for a hard foul. It was his fifth yellow card of the season. Alex will now miss the Dynamo’s next game, next weekend at San Jose, due to accumulated yellow cards.
  • Alex started his 24th game of the season and his 63rd game with the Dynamo.
  • DF DaMarcus Beasley started his 80th game with the Dynamo tonight and the 168th of his MLS career.
  • MF Juan David Cabezas returned to the starting lineup after a one-game absence due to the accumulation of yellow cards at Dallas on August 23. Cabezas will make his 21st start of the season.
  • Cabezas won three tackles on the night, tying for the team lead in the game, and committed a game-high four fouls in a physical contest.
  • MF Ricardo Clark led all players with 63 passes attempted in the game, completing 53 of them.
  • Clark started his 22nd game of the season and the 313th of his career tonight.
  • Clark is now two appearances away from reaching 300 with the Dynamo across all competitions.
  • Clark moved to within three starts of the top 10 in league history among field players.
  • Clark received a yellow card in the 55th minute for persistent infringement. It was his fifth caution of the season and the 55th of his MLS career.
  • DF A.J. DeLaGarza started his 23rd game of the season and the 219th of his MLS career tonight.
  • GK Tyler Deric made his 73rd career start tonight and his 19th of the season.
  • FW Alberth Elis drew a game-high six fouls on the night on 49 touches, meaning he was fouled approximately once for every eight touches of the ball.
  • Elis started his 14th game of the season tonight and will make his 20th appearance of the year.
  • DF Leonardo came off the bench for the first time this season when he came in for DF Philippe Senderos in the 72nd minute. He had started in all 22 of his prior appearances so far this season.
  • DF Adolfo Machado started his 27th consecutive game. He remains the only player on the team to have started every game this season.
  • Machado played all 90 minutes for the 27th consecutive match. He and New York City FC defender Alexander Callens are the only field players in the league who have played every minute for their clubs this year.
  • FW Mauro Manotas started his 20th game of the season and the 30th of his career tonight.
  • MF Tomás Martínez made his fourth consecutive appearance with the club when he came on for MF Alex in the 62nd minute.
  • FW Romell Quioto made his 17th appearance of the season and his seventh as a substitute when he came on for FW Mauro Manotas at halftime.
  • FW Erick Torres made his 71st career start tonight and his 20th start of the season.
