The Houston Dynamo enter Friday’s Major League Soccer SuperDraft presented by adidas with the 20th overall selection and five total picks in the league’s annual amateur player draft.
The first two rounds of the SuperDraft will take place Friday in Philadelphia, with Round 1 starting at 10 a.m. CST. The SuperDraft will be streamed live on HoustonDynamo.com, Facebook, and YouTube.
The 20th overall pick is the lowest selection that the Dynamo have held in club history. Previously, the lowest pick the Dynamo have held in the SuperDraft was the 18th overall pick in the 2012 and 2013 SuperDrafts. In 2012, the club selected forward Colin Rolfe out of Louisville with that pick; and in 2013, the Dynamo traded their pick to the Montreal Impact in exchange for forward Brian Ching.
In addition to the 20th pick, the Dynamo hold the 20th in the second round (No. 43 overall), the 13th and 20th in the third round (No. 59 and 66 overall) and the 20th pick in the Round 4 (No. 89 overall). Rounds 3 and 4 of the SuperDraft will take place via conference call on Sunday, January 21 beginning at 1 p.m. CST.
