Houston Dash seek to split two-game road trip on Sunday in Orlando

The Houston Dash look to split a two-game road trip on Sunday as they face the Orlando Pride for the first time this season.

Houston fell to the Chicago Red Stars on Wednesday in their first league game since March 30. Thembi Kagatlana made her Dash debut and it was the first time all three South African internationals, Linda Motlhalo and Janine Van Wyk, appeared together for the club in a league game.

Kristie Mewis will be eligible to play in her 95th league game on Sunday and team captain Amber Brooks will be eligible to play in her 28th consecutive game for Houston. To date, Brooks has played 2,430 consecutive minutes for the club since last season.

This is the only back-to-back midweek road trip for Houston, who opened the 2018 regular season with two draws at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Houston is 2-4-0 all-time against Orlandobut will be looking for their second consecutive win at Orlando City Stadium after defeating the Pride 2-0 in their only visit to the Sunshine State last June

The Pride enter the match on a two-game losing streak after falling to Portland Thorns FC 2-1 on Sunday. Former Dash forward Chioma Ubogagu scored Orlando’s first goal since the opening weekend of the season in Sunday’s loss in the Pacific Northwest.

Orlando revamped their front line this offseason when U.S. Women’s National Team forward Sydney Leroux joined via a trade with Utah Royals FC. The Pride attack also features USWNT forward Alex Morgan, while the defense is anchored by USWNT fullback Ali Krieger and USWNT goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris.
