Three Dynamo Academy players earn end-of-year honors

Three Houston Dynamo Academy players were named to 2017-2018 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Central Conference Best XI teams. Heriberto Soto and Marcelo Palomino were named to the U-17 team, and Jesse Ortiz earned a spot on the U-19 XI.

Soto, a forward, scored 17 goals in 25 games for the Dynamo U-19s and four goals in the three games he played for the U-17s this season. Palomino also primarily played with the U-19s, also scoring 17 goals in 25 games. The three-time Dynamo Academy Player of the Year is currently playing with the Dynamo’s U-23 PDL affiliate Brazos Valley Cavalry FC, where he has three goals in three games.


Ortiz captained the Dynamo U-19s and scored eight goals in 24 games. The midfielder was named U-19 Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year at this summer’s Dynamo Academy Awards.


Alex Cardenas of Houston Dynamo Youth U-15 was also named Central Conference Coach of the Year.
