Arturo Alvarez named to El Salvador’s roster for international friendly

Houston Dynamo midfielder Arturo Alvarez has been called up to El Salvador’s national team for a friendly match against Brazil on Tuesday, September 11, the Federación Salvadoreña de Futbol announced last Friday.


Alvarez is part of a 23-man roster set to face Brazil on Tuesday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. CDT at FedEx Field in Maryland. The 33-year-old has earned 42 caps for El Salvador since making his debut during the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers and has scored four goals at the international level.  


Alvarez has played in 15 regular season matches for the Dynamo, and helped the team reach the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final playing in two matches and recording two assists in the tournament.


The midfielder will be back in action with the Dynamo when they host the Portland Timbers on Saturday, September 15 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. That match, which will be the club’s annual Noche Naranja celebration of Hispanic Heritage, is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
