On Monday night the Houston Dynamo will learn their first-round opponent for the 2019 Concacaf Champions League as they return to international competition for the first time in six years.
The Champions League draw takes place Monday night in Miami, and will be broadcast at 6 p.m. CT on Yahoo! Sports and the Univision Deportes Network.
The Dynamo will be in Pot 1 for the draw and can be paired against any of the following teams: Independiente (Panama), Saprissa (Costa Rica), Marathón (Honduras), Guastatoya (Guatemala), Alianza (El Salvador), Atlético Pantoja (Dominican Republic), or Herediano (Costa Rica). Both the opponent and bracket position will be determined by random draw.

All but one team have qualified for the 2019 Champions League. The final spot will come down to the winner of the 2019 MLS Cup on Dec. 8 (7 p.m. CT | FOX, UniMás). If the Portland Timbers win, they will take the “USA 1” seed, and Atlanta United will be the “USA 4” seed. If Atlanta wins, they will be “USA 1” and the New York Red Bulls will be “USA 4” as the best non-champion team with the best aggregate record over the course of the 2017 and 2018 MLS seasons. In both scenarios, Sporting Kansas City and the Dynamo are locked into the “USA 2” and “USA 3” seeds, respectively.
Whoever the Dynamo draw on Monday night, the first leg of the two-game series will be played on the road in mid-February. Houston will host the decisive second leg. Quarterfinal hosting order is determined by bracket position, while the semifinals and final hosting order is determined by ranking teams’ performance in the round of 16 and quarterfinals.
