W-League Roundup: Huerta, Sydney FC snap streak to secure three points at home

Amber Brooks, Veronica Latsko and Adelaide United remain unbeaten after the Dash duo combined for a dramatic second-half equalizer against Perth Glory FC. Brooks also found her Dash teammate in the first half with a long cross that found Latsko outside the box. The forward brushed off a defender to win the ball and beat the keeper at the near post for her first goal of the game. The match finished as a 2-2 draw last Thursday as Adelaide climbed into third place on the W-League ladder.  


Kyah Simon and Melbourne City FC defeated Newcastle Jets 3-1 on Saturday for their second victory of the season. Simon completed more than 85 percent of her passes during her 88-minute shift for City and forced a save with a shot from outside the box in the 61st minute.


Sofia Huerta and Sydney FC snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday with a 5-1 victory over Clare Polkinghorne and Brisbane Roar. The midfielder tallied an assist as she found Princess Ibini with a low cross at the near post in the 70th minute. Huerta also forced a save in first-half stoppage time with a shot from outside the box. Polkinghorne logged a full shift for Brisbane who fell to sixth place on the W-League ladder.
