Mock SuperDraft Roundup: Who will Houston take at No. 8?

The Houston Dynamo are entering Friday’s MLS SuperDraft 2019 presented by adidas with the eighth overall pick – their highest pick since selecting Zach Steinberger in 2015.

Get an idea of which players may be in the mix for the Dynamo at the number eight spot as we take a look around the various mock SuperDrafts around the web.

Matthew Doyle – MLSsoccer.com

MLSsoccer.com’s Armchair Analyst has the Dynamo selecting Siad Haji (above, right), an attacking midfielder from Virginia Commonwealth University, with the eighth pick in his post-combine mock draft.

He was expected to be in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick, but underwhelmed at the Combine and showed he's maybe less versatile than folks expected. But man can he find that final pass from central midfield...

In his previous mock draft, Doyle had Haji going No. 1 overall to FC Cincinnati, and the Dynamo picking Indiana University winger Griffin Dorsey (above, left) at No. 8.

Ives Galarcep – Soccer by Ives

Longtime MLS reporter Ives Galarcep is predicting Wake Forest outside back Logan Gdula going to the Dynamo in the first round of the SuperDraft.

The Dynamo have a need for fullback depth, and can go either way between Logan Gdula and John Nelson, who could be groomed as DaMarcus Beasley’s eventual replacement (when Beasley retires in five years). Gdula fills a more immediate need though, and has the physical qualities to potentially earn minutes in year one.

Ives previously had the Dynamo selecting University of Denver forward Andre Shiniyashiki in v.1 of his draft, though Brazilian-born striker would occupy an international slot.

Dynamo Theory – SB Nation

SB Nation held a mock draft with representatives from each club blog selecting for their respective teams. Houston blog Dynamo Theory selected Indiana’s Griffin Dorsey with their eighth pick in that mock draft.

Tune in to MLSsoccer.com, the MLS app, YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter on Friday at noon CT to see what actually happens with the Dynamo first round pick!
