Houston Dash forward Rachel Daly and the England national football team claimed the 2019 SheBelieves Cup with a 3-0 win over Japan in Tampa on Tuesday night. The Lionesses finished the annual four-team tournament with two wins and a draw to take the top spot in a field including the United States, Japan and Brazil – all top-10 in the FIFA world rankings.
Daly made two appearances in the tournament, entering as a second half substitute in England's opening 2-1 win over Brazil and playing the full 90 minutes at right back in a 2-2 draw against the U.S.
It was a promising result for England under new manager Phil Neville as they prepare for the FIFA Women's World Cup in France this summer, looking to improve upon their semifinal finish in 2015. England will face Japan again in Group D in France.
