The Houston Dynamo were eliminated from the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Tuesday night after losing 1-0 to Tigres UANL at Estadio Universitario and 3-0 on aggregate.

Mexican international Carlos Salcedo capitalized on a loose ball inside the box that was initially disputed by Dynamo defender Kiki Struna and Enner Valencia. Salcedo finished at the near post in the 68th minute for the only goal of the game.

Salcedo found Julian Quiñones with a long ball in the eighth minute, but his effort was blocked at the end line by Dynamo defenders Maynor Figueroa and captain DaMarcus Beasley.

Dynamo goalkeeper Joe Willis denied Eduardo Vargas’ effort from outside the box with a spectacular one-handed save in the 11th minute. Willis reached across his body to palm the ball out of play for the first of two saves in the first half.

Dynamo midfielder Tommy McNamara capitalized on a defensive error at the edge of the box, but his effort was saved at the near post in the 23rd minute. McNamara has appeared in every game for the Dynamo across all competitions in 2019.

Seven minutes later McNamara forced a save at the far post after he got a touch on Adam Lundkvist’s cross outside the six yard box.

A Tigres defender got a touch on Alberth Elis’ cross in the 50th minute yet his effort fell to Mauro Manotas near the penalty area but his effort went over the crossbar.

Willis made his fourth save of the game in the 64th minute as he denied Vargas’ header with a diving effort at the near post.

The Dynamo will shift their focus to league play as they return to BBVA Compass Stadium at 2 p.m. on Saturday to host Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Tickets for Saturday’s match are on sale now, starting at $24, at HoustonDynamo.com or by phone at 713-276-4625 (GOAL).
